Your LinkedIn is a reference check now
If you want the fastest way to lose momentum in a process, have your CV say one thing and your LinkedIn say another.
I’m not talking about “positioning” or “personal brand”. I’m talking about basics: dates, titles, overlaps, whether you’re still at a company, whether you quietly deleted a short stint, whether you’ve inflated scope. This is the first thing a recruiter / Hiring Manager checks because it’s the easiest way to catch inconsistencies.
And it’s not a secret. Everyone knows it. Hiring managers do it. Internal recruiters do it. Agencies do it. Some people check before the first call, some check after, some check mid-process when you’ve impressed them and they’re looking for reasons to keep pushing you through. Same outcome though: if your LinkedIn creates doubt, you don’t get the benefit of the doubt.
